With all the talk about inflation in the news these days, we started to think about ways to maximize our hair care budget.  And no, we don't mean hiding your beautiful hair under a hat!  At ANTIDOTE, we believe that it's not about how much you spend, but that investing where it counts makes a big difference.

Here are 6 practical ways to make the most of your hair care investment.

View your products as investments. Look for products with quality natural ingredients and formulas that have you in mind.  Sure they’ll cost more, but that’s because the ingredients are more complex and richer. Luxurious sulfate free cleansers gently remove dirt without damaging your follicles. Look for natural ingredients like aloe vera to condition hair, and essential oils to provide anti-septic properties and smell great.

Green ratings from independent organizations like Environmental Working Groupshow that the maker cares about you and the planet.  High quality products mean that you don’t have to use as much to get the benefit.

At ANTIDOTE, every shampoo and conditioner is Environmental Working Group Green Rated. You’ll find aloe vera juice bases, gentle coconut cleansers, and conditioners full of shea butter. Our shampoo cleansers are gentle enough to use as a body wash. Our conditioners are rich enough to work as a rinse out conditioner, a rinse our hair mask, or a leave styler. ANTIDOTE Sandalwood Multi-Styler smooths frizz when applied to wet hair and works as a volumizer when it’s blown-dried in.

Cheap shampoos and conditioners can’t do all that because you won’t find quality ingredients in them. Instead, you’ll get inexpensive detergents, like those used to degrease machines. These detergents will strip your hair of critical moisture and can irritate scalp and follicles, leaving them dry and itchy.  Cheap conditioners are full of silicones that will coat your hair and suffocate it, making it more brittle and prone to breakage. Artificial fragrance, also cheap, is one of the most cited ingredients when it comes to triggering allergic reactions. Cheap products rely on strong preservatives that have been shown to cause all kinds of trouble. Easy does it. Once you’ve invested in quality hair products, don’t over use them. In addition to not using too much product, don’t over shampoo. One of the biggest misconceptions that people have is that they need to shampoo every day or even every other day. Now, everybody is different, so testing is key. Try skipping an extra day to see what happens. Note that the frequency of your shampoos can change based on the season and your activity level.  And a “light” shampoo, where you use half of your normal amount focuses on your scalp, is always an option. The same applies to conditioner. Don’t over condition. Apply conditioner to the bottom half of your hair only, not the roots. It’s so common to see people use conditioner all over only to have their hair weighed down.

Minimize to maximize. That is, minimizing your product line-up can give you the maximum benefit. The average person has a 9 hair care products in their shower right now! Finding the right shampoo mix – maybe one for regular use and another for occasional deep cleaning. And one good conditioner can do the trick. Quality shampoos, conditioners, and stylers can also do double duty, serving multiple jobs in your hair care routine. The ANTIDOTE Essentials Bundle has 4 products that can take most people from cleansing to conditioning to styling.

Tool up. A simple tool like a scalp massager will help you stretch your hair care investment. A scalp massager stimulates hair follicles and circulation and can be used to more thoroughly clean hair and remove useless dead cells from your scalp.
